A Ukrainian Culture Night was held in Charleville, celebrating Ukrainian Christmas traditions through music, crafts, food, and a children’s Nativity performance, bringing the local community together for an evening of cultural exchange.

On Thursday, December 19th, a Ukrainian Culture Night took place at the Charleville Park Hotel, organised in conjunction with Charleville Heritage Society. The event was supported by Cork County Council and Ballyhoura Development.

The evening celebrated Ukrainian heritage and culture, offering attendees an opportunity to learn about and experience what Christmas in Ukraine means. It also created a welcoming space for cultural exchange and community connection in Charleville.

Members of the local Ukrainian community prepared a vibrant and engaging programme, proudly showcasing their talents and traditions. The audience enjoyed live music and displays of traditional crafts presented by Ukrainian artists. A presentation on Ukrainian Christmas traditions provided insight into customs, symbols, and seasonal celebrations, while guests also had the opportunity to taste traditional Ukrainian Christmas food prepared by the community.

The highlight of the evening was a Christmas Nativity performance, prepared and presented by Ukrainian children, which was warmly received by all in attendance.

Special thanks to The Vale Star for capturing the evening through photographs.
