The Ballyhoura Conversation Clubs, an integration initiative supported by Solas through the Collaboration and Innovation Fund, have had a significant impact across the region.
In partnership with Fáilte Isteach, Hospital FRC, Kilfinane Community Council, Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board, and Cork Education and Training Board, Ballyhoura Development established eight English Language Conversation Clubs in various locations:
  • Hospital: Hospital Family Resource Centre
  • Kilmallock: Friars’ Gate Theatre
  • Croom: Croom Family Resource Centre
  • Kilfinane: Teach Na Cille (near the fountain)
  • Bruff: Bruff Accommodation Centre
  • Cappamore: Cappamore ETB Campus
  • Mitchelstown: Mitchelstown Library
  • Charleville: Vincent's Charleville

These clubs provided a welcoming and informal environment for migrants to practice English, fostering friendships and community integration. Over 100 participants joined the clubs, supported by more than 35 dedicated volunteers who helped migrants improve their English and feel at home in their new community.

The Conversation Clubs will continue next year, offering even more opportunities for connection and learning.
