Communicating Europe Initiative 2025

The EU as a Catalyst for Change: Ballyhoura Development’s Support for the Ukrainian Community

The Communicating Europe Initiative provides funding for projects that aim to deepen public understanding of the European Union and highlight the benefits of EU membership in everyday life.

In 2025, Ballyhoura Development’s project, The EU as a Catalyst for Change, showcases how EU funding and cooperation — particularly through the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) — support the integration of Ukrainian refugees and strengthen community connections across the Ballyhoura region.

Through a short documentary film, the project will share personal stories, interviews, and community footage that highlight the EU’s role in promoting inclusion, solidarity, and social cohesion between Irish and Ukrainian residents.

The film will be distributed online via Ballyhoura Development’s website and social media channels, and through local screenings, encouraging greater public awareness of how EU support fosters positive change and stronger, more connected communities in Ireland.
