HSE Dementia: Understand Together Campaign – Community Training for Tidy Towns This community training session is part of the HSE’s Dementia; Understand Together Campaign, which supports communities across Ireland to become dementia-friendly, inclusive and supportive. The session provides an introduction to dementia and explores how it can affect people in everyday life. It also shares practical ways that communities, organisations, and volunteers can support people living with dementia to remain involved, connected, and valued within their town or village. Participants will learn about simple, achievable initiatives that can be introduced locally to make community spaces, activities, and events more dementia-friendly. What You Will Learn During the session, participants will: Gain an understanding of dementia and its impact on individuals and families Learn how to create more dementia-friendly communities Explore practical actions and initiatives for Tidy Towns groups and community organisations Understand how to support people with dementia to stay active and included in community life The training is informative, practical, and supportive, with ideas suitable for communities of all sizes.
