An event focusing on highlighting employment pathways for people with disabilities.

This event organised by Ballyhoura Development will focus on highlighting employment pathways for people with disabilities with key speakers on the day.


Speakers on the Day:

Dessie Fitzgerald - Life, Mind & Performance Coach

  • After overcoming the challenges of loss and a serious spinal injury playing sports, Dessie returned to college and obtained a Master's in Personal & Management Coaching in University College Cork and graduated as a Transpersonal Counsellor with the Clearmind Institute. Now, Dessie Fitzgerald is a Life, Mind Health & Performance Coach focused on supporting individuals to overcome obstacles in their personal and professional lives in an empowering, confident, and peaceful way.
Clodagh Dodd, O’ Herlihy Access Consultants - “Accessible Workplaces”
  • Clodagh will speak about accessible workplaces including interviews, hiring procedures, HR policies, disclosure, reasonable accommodation, the built environment, and relevant legislation. She will also give examples of why it is important to promote an inclusive environment for staff beyond mere compliance with legislation.

Ciaran Hourican, MD of H-Suite, Corporate Trainer, Executive Coach and Strategic People Consultant - “The Rise of Transferable Skills in an Employee Job Market”

 

  • Ciaran will highlight current key employment trends and share inspiring stories of individuals who transformed personal challenges into career success, proving that resilience and adaptability can lead to truly impactful careers. 
Aidan Wolfe, Employer Relations Officer, Department of Social Protection - “Work and Access Supports”

 

  • Aidan will focus on the new Work and Access Supports available from the Department of Social Protection to help people with a disability get a job or stay in work. The supports aim to remove or reduce barriers in the workplace for people with a disability and include the Workplace Needs Assessment, the Workplace Adaptation Grant, Disability, Equality and Inclusion Training, among others.
