Family-Friendly Walk Through Lough Gur's Folklore and Trees Would you like to learn more about our beautiful native trees and the fascinating folklore and heritage connected to them? Join us for a family-friendly walk in Lough Gur to celebrate National Tree Week! Lough Gur is a botanically rich area with a variety of woodlands, and a tree trail has been developed around the Heritage Centre where you can see nearly all of Ireland's native trees. The walk will follow the native tree trail around Lough Gur, exploring the unique folklore tied to the trees and the land itself. The walk will be led by local historian Brian Collopy, a tour guide at the Lough Gur Visitor Centre. Brian holds a BA in Heritage Studies and is currently pursuing an MA in Mythology and Folklore at UCC. A passionate collector of local stories about the preternatural and lore connected to our native plants and animals. Date: Sunday, 9th March 2025 Meeting Point: The Lime Kiln near the lakeside at 11 AM. Registration is required!
