We are delighted to welcome award-winning artist and illustrator Celina Buckley to Kilfinane for a day of hands-on creativity and artistic exploration as part of Creative Places Kilfinane.

Celina’s work spans literature, visual arts, and education, with a focus on storytelling, observation, and environmental connection. Her workshops are perfect for both budding young artists and adults looking to explore new techniques in a friendly, inspiring environment.

Workshop 1: Collage a Landscape (Ages 7–12)

Time: 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

Young artists will explore the world of mixed media to create vibrant landscape collages. Using a variety of materials, participants will learn techniques to capture the essence of real or imagined places. This workshop encourages experimentation, creativity, and environmental awareness. No experience necessary – just bring your imagination (and be ready to get a little messy!).

Workshop 2: Pen and Ink Illustration (Adults)

Time: 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm

This workshop invites adults to explore the art of pen and ink illustration. Participants will learn how to blend observation and imagination into compelling black-and-white drawings, experimenting with tone, texture, and shading. Suitable for beginners and experienced artists alike, this session is designed to develop your skills in creating expressive, dynamic illustrations.

About Celina Buckley

Celina is an award-winning artist, author, and teacher from County Cork. She holds a Masters in Children’s Book Illustration from Cambridge School of Art. Her debut picture book, The Salmon of Knowledge, featured on RTÉ’s Home School Hub, and her artwork has been showcased at prestigious events such as Kaleidoscope, Electric Picnic, and the International Literature Festival Dublin. Celina was also a finalist on SKY Landscape Artist of the Year 2023 and has exhibited in venues including LHQ Gallery, Doneraile Court, and GOMA.

Through her workshops, Celina encourages participants to connect with their environment, explore creativity, and express themselves through art.
