Meditation in English, Irish and Ukrainian with Caife agus Caint

The North Cork Rural Community Health Project, delivered by Ballyhoura Development, recently hosted two very successful wellbeing events as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge 2026, celebrating language, inclusion and community connection.

Mitchelstown Library – 12 March 2026

Mitchelstown Library welcomed participants to a bilingual mindfulness meditation session in Irish and English, creating a calm and supportive space for relaxation and reflection.

The session was followed by “Caife agus Caint”, where attendees enjoyed informal Irish conversation over a cup of tea. The event provided a gentle and welcoming opportunity for people to connect, practise their cúpla focal, and support their wellbeing in a relaxed setting.

Charleville Library – 19 March 2026

A second inclusive session took place in Charleville Library, expanding the reach of the initiative by offering meditation in English, Irish and Ukrainian.

This multilingual approach reflected the diversity of the local community and created a warm, inclusive environment where participants could come together to celebrate language, wellbeing and shared experience.

Supporting Community Wellbeing

Both events highlight Ballyhoura Development’s ongoing commitment to:

  • Supporting rural mental health and wellbeing
  • Promoting social inclusion and cultural diversity
  • Encouraging community connection through language and shared experiences

Delivered through the North Cork Rural Community Health Project, these events demonstrate how simple, accessible initiatives can have a meaningful impact at local level.
