Join us at Cappamore Library for a special Story Time Session with author Róisín Meaney, celebrating the My Little Library Book Bag initiative — a wonderful introduction to the library for little learners and readers.

Children up to the age of 7 are invited to come along with their parents or guardians to enjoy stories, meet other young readers, and discover the magic of the library. Each child will be gifted a starter book pack and encouraged to become a library member, beginning a lifelong love of books and reading.

About the My Little Library Book Bag

The My Little Library Book Bag initiative is for all children starting school in 2025. To help children prepare for this exciting new chapter, libraries across Ireland have put together a special bag filled with books and resources designed to support the transition to school life.

The initiative is a collaboration between libraries, the Department of Rural and Community Development, and the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, as part of the First 5 Strategy.

Each My Little Library Book Bag includes:

  • A book about starting school

  • A book about making friends or being yourself

  • A personal library card and special “My Little Library” cardholder

  • Resources for parents and children, including the Rufus Handwashing Storybook

Book bags are available in both Irish and English, and can be collected at any library nationwide from May 9th, 2025.
