Weeds & Wild Plants: A Nature Connection Walk at Kildorrery Community Garden Ballyhoura Development is hosting Weeds & Wild Plants: A Nature Connection Walk at Kildorrery Community Garden on Thursday, June 11th, 2026. This session offers a practical talk and gentle, slow-paced walk through Kildorrery Community Garden, focusing on identifying and exploring local native plants, particularly weeds and naturally occurring species. Participants will learn about a variety of common native plants including nettles, cleavers, plantain, hawthorn and elder, exploring their seasonal uses, benefits and roles in everyday life. The session will also provide insights into the history and traditional uses of these plants, encouraging a greater appreciation for the biodiversity that exists within local landscapes. Alongside practical plant knowledge, the session will incorporate sensory and nature connection practices, highlighting how engaging with nature can support wellbeing by reducing stress, promoting grounding and supporting emotional balance. Delivered in a relaxed and informal way, participants will be encouraged to share their own experiences and knowledge of plants, helping to deepen connection, curiosity and learning within the group.
